Want to know about the welding process for aluminum welding? In this article I will tell you how to do this.

When you weld a welder with a welding machine, you must take a few steps to make sure that your machine is set up to work.

Type of aluminum wire for use

Nine times out of 10 you will want to use aluminum wire grade 5356. Wire 5356 is slightly stronger, which makes it easier to flow through your welding gun.

5356 is commonly used for common aluminum welding tasks, such as toolboxes, truck bodies and trailers.

If you need to repair cast aluminum, such as cylinder heads or engine water pumps, you would like to use grade 4043.

Most welding shops will use wire with a diameter of 1.2 mm, which is 0.045 inches. The larger the wire diameter, the harder it becomes.

Stainless Steel Brush

You must use a special stainless steel brush to clean the area where you want to weld. This is due to the fact that it is necessary to remove the oxide layer. Make sure you don't use this brush for anything else. It should be used only for an ally. If you use it for other work in the shed, the contaminants will fall into the aluminum and contaminate the weld.

Type of welding torch liner

It is required to use a Teflon or plastic liner instead of a standard steel spiral liner. This will facilitate wire feed through the gun.

Feed rollers

In order to get more traction so that you have a smooth supply wire, you will also need to get a few grooves with a groove. Conventional feed rollers - grooved. U-shaped profile will allow more surface contact with the surface, so that it provides greater grip to lay the wire smoothly.

Increased contact tip

As aluminum expands more than soft steel wire, you also need to use a slightly larger contact tip. The next size that is available will be perfect.

Use only spot welding technology.

You need to fix your welding torch with a nozzle indicating how you want to weld. At the same time protective gas will provide optimum coverage. If you use the push ejection method, you will have a lot of black soot.

Finally you must use 100% argon gas.

Argon welding gas is a suitable gas for use in aluminum welding. To learn more about MIG welding, follow this link to see my site. MIG Welding Aluminum
