A brief history of Metallica -2

Metallica could easily have been the best, most influential, and most respected Heavy Metal band of the 80s and 90s. Instead of drifting in their own success, they bought music back to Earth, back to the street where it belongs.

The group formed after a series of events in 1981: Lars Ulrich, a drummer from Denmark who lives in the San Francisco Bay, was looking for someone, c. He added an add-on to the local trading post, The Recycler, & # 39; stating that he is interested in playing drums for the band. To respond to his addition, was James Hetfield, a 19-year-old guitarist, also living in the San Francisco Bay. They started playing together their favorite Heavy Metal songs, such as bands like Diamond Head and Black Sabbath. Hatfield later asked a roommate (and part-time bassist), Ron McGoney, to join the band, and McGoney accepted this offer. The trio then recorded lead guitarist Dave Mustaine, and the band was full, or was it ...

When Hetfield doubled in vocals, the band recorded their first demos in mid-1981. The demonstrations, titled "No Life", became the product of bootleggers, and the band became popular among the Underground Heavy Metal community.
Later, when Hatfield and Ulrich attended the Bay Area band’s concert called Trauma, they were stunned by the “volcanic” ability of Trauma bassist: Cliff Burton. McGooney was later released from the group by Hatfield and Ulrich, and the very impressive Burton asked to join Metallica. After making decisive decisions, Burton decided to join. Metallica then began to play live, mainly as a warm-up group for famous metal stocks such as Saxon, and the popularity of Metallica, although they have not released their first album yet.

The lead guitarist of the band Mustaine unexpectedly turned out to be unpopular with the other three members of the band. His daily use of drugs and alcohol did not like Hetfield and Ulrich, so, in turn, Mustaine was expelled from the group.

The band was looking for another guitarist. They participated in many concerts of other Bay Area groups, and they were lucky. They found Kirk Hammett, a guitarist playing for a small well-known band called Exodus. The trio were delighted with Hammet's lightning-fast fingers, who played intimate minute solos that left a chunk of frets on the guitar after they finished. Hammet was there before he was asked to join the group, and after a long thought Hammet decided to leave Exodus and join Metallica.

The following year, Ulrich, Hatfield, Burton and Hammett worked to improve the songs they wrote in the No Life & Till Leather demos, and wrote new songs during concerts throughout the country. The recording contract was signed by American label Elektra, and in 1983 the band released their first album: “Kill & # 39 Em Em”. Kill & # 39 Em all contained improved songs from No Life & Before Burton and Hammett joined them, Till Leather demos and a couple of songs written by the band were released. The album was a huge success among the Heavy Metal community, but it never entered the mainstream music market.

After the release of Kill & # 39; Em All group decided to cut the tour and decided to work instead, writing their next album. “Ride the Lightning”, the band’s second album, was released almost exactly a year after Kill & the Em All. It was a difficult year. Like Kill & # 39; Em All, Ride the Lightning was successful, and it continued in the tradition of fast-oriented music from the first album.

The popularity of Metallica topped the release of the album "Master of Puppets", released in 1985. Some say that Puppets & is the best Heavy Metal album of all time. This, like previous albums, was a great success, and Metallica was more popular than ever before.
After the release of "Puppets" the band decided to go on a world tour, mainly because of the huge success of their albums. The tour was launched in Copenhagen, Denmark, the hometown of drummer Ulrich.

During the tour in Sweden the tragedy got stuck. The Metallica tourist bus crashed on a long trip between cities, and bassist Burton was tragically killed. After Burton’s funeral, the band was surprised if they should continue to play or not, and they decided that they would play ...

The audition was performed by Metallica for the new bass player, and many novice bass players found out if they were good enough to join Metallica. Jason Newsted, with his heavy rhythm technique on bass, was chosen as the new bass player for Metallica. To work at Newstead in the form of Metallica, the group decided to go back to their roots and play some songs written by their favorite bands, the bands that influenced them most in their early career. The cover songs (as they are known) were recorded, and the songs were released in 1986 in the amount of $ 5.95 called “Garage Days with Repeat”. Now EP is extremely rare and is considered a collector's item.

With Newstead aboard 1987 ".... and Justice For All", Metallica's fourth album was released. For the first time, Metallica entered the mainstream music through an album, and it entered the American and British Top 20 music charts. From the album, the singles “One” and “Harvester of Sorrow” were released, and the singles were also successful in the charts.

After the album, the group decided to go on tour again, and the “Justice” tour, as it became known, lasted about 3 years, from 1987 to 1990.

The 1991 album titled “Metallica” brought the band the biggest success to date, selling 7 million copies in the USA alone. The album became number one in the American music charts, and the singles “Unforgiven”, “Enter Sandman” and “Nothing Else Matters” became huge hits, each of which hit the top ten in the American and British singles charts.

Then he went back again for Metallica, for another world tour. This time the tour lasted four years, and the band played in such an obscure place in the world as Moscow.

The long-awaited album “Load” of 1996 didn’t like many Metallica fans. For Load, Hetfield, Ulrich, Hammet and Newstead decided to leave the scene with fast metal and decided to enter the Alternative Rock arena. Despite the fact that the album debuted at number one in the American charts, old Metallica fans are not happy with this, they claimed that Metallica was “sold out”. Metallica lost some fans, but they also had many new fans who were more interested in the alternative side of Metallica.

The next year, between trips, Metallica wrote the songs for the next album, and did not gradually add comments from their so-called fans on the Load album. Reload, the seventh album, was released in 1997. The album debuted at number four on the American charts and, like the Load album, old fans did not like it, but the legions of younger fans continued to grow.

Metallica has always been a constant force in music in her 19-year career. Metallica changed the rules for all Heavy Metal bands, not only their fans respect them, but also the main customers and critics.

Many bands have come out of the music of Metallica. Kirk Hammett became one of the most talented guitarists in all forms of music, James Hetfield developed the vocalist's signature on his vocals, as well as his rhythm guitar, while the constant drum beat of Lars Ulrich completely echoes Jason Newstead bounce, but heavy bass tunes . Metallica, alone changed the face of metal, forever.
