When you are a truck driver, you often find that the only place you can count on sit-down food is at one of the many truck stops. Petro has an iron frying pan, TP has a country's passion, Flying J has a country's market. But the same old, the same old, which you crave more and from time to time.
The problem is that a large installation can be 75 feet long or more. We cannot simply draw into Chile’s parking lot, remove our horns and say, “We are here.” Our selection is often limited by the size of our cars. However, over the years I have found quite a few parking places for my equipment that delight my tummy.
Beef House
In Covington, Indiana, on I 74 at exit 4 there is a pilot truck stop. Right across the road, this is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. This is called "Beef House." They are open for lunch or dinner. A good steak lunch for two will give you around $ 40 or $ 50 depending on what you order. I'm going to a fine filet mignon, and I promise you, it's worth every penny. It does not have a piece of fat, it is wrapped in bacon and aged. I never tried it, but I think you could cut it with a fork, it's so tender. They have a meat counter, and you can buy from them and take it with you to the grill later. They have a fresh salad bar that serves dishes and great soups (also included). Their service is the maximum rate. Many people will have lunch in costumes and dresses, but you can wear jeans and a T-shirt if you want to, and you don’t feel out of place. There are two buildings - a banquet hall and a restaurant. Be sure to go to the restaurant (not the banquet hall) - this building is further west. They have space for several trucks to park in the gravel zones of their section, but for less adventurous ones you can park at the pilot's. It is within walking distance.

Nick Som and barbecue
In Carlisle, Arkansas, at I 40 at exit 183, there is a small restaurant that does not look like the outside. Think about it, it also does not seem to be internal, but what comes out of the kitchen is worth staying. I have never had a barbecue, but I have friends who ordered it and were very pleased. Som is one of the best things I've ever had. This is not a place to have lunch if you are on a diet, but if you are looking for good food, this is a sure bet. They have a limited truck and RV parking on their dirt. These are just a few of the routes south of I 40 on route 13 of the state.

Spiers
In Carson, California, on the 405 freeway on Wilmington Avenue, there is a snack bar with food that will compete with your favorite chain restaurant. There is only legal parking for 2 or 3 trucks on the street (if you have not returned - then you can fit in the lot). Items are marked with a 1-hour truck parking and are long enough for a large installation. I can not even delve into their menu offers - meatloaf, pot, fry, salads ... I have never heard that someone was unhappy with their choice. The waiting staff was top notch at any time when I was eating there. I know the drivers. who parked their shells a mile from them without parking and walked up to Spiers to get good food. It is definitely worth a trip around the block to get a parking space for a truck.

Casa de Fruta
Right outside Hollister, California, on route 152 (between Gilroy and Santa Nella), this is a snack bar with a twist. The food is not the main attraction here, although it is a very pleasant change from the truck stop restaurant. This place is a whole case of events - there is a wine shop and wine tasting (not earlier than you go, please), a pastry shop and a store of fruits and nuts. I have never stayed there except for a quick meal or a place to sleep until recently when my friend told me about the train. I had no idea that there was more fruit and food. From the map of the place you can see that they have a small train, a zoo and a flock of peacocks walking around. The restaurant is open around the clock and has many options. I only had breakfast there, but it was very good.
Sam & # 39; s
In Fairfield, Texas, at I 45 at exit 197, there is a restaurant good enough to Sam Houston’s pride. Another driver recommended dinner at Sam, and, to be honest, at first glance I did not expect much. The exterior of the building looks like any truck stop along corridor I 45, but something inside these walls will surprise you. This place has a small gift shop with all kinds of cute nicknames to browse through, although I didn't have to wait for the table. It is not too bizarre, but it is very nice. They have a good salad bar, fantastic catfish and a great barbecue. They are located east of I 45 and have dirt for truck parking. Do not allow it to stop a truck on the west side of the highway.

booming city
(currently the truck / truck is stopping for the construction of Cabella and the new truck)
In Verdi, Nevada, at exit 3, there is a casino and a truck stop called Boomtown. Long-distance riders can park at the truck stop and take a free shuttle to the main casino. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, the main attraction of the buffet is lobsters that you can eat. This is not like what you can expect in Maine, but this is a pleasant change from your typical truck fare. He will refund you $ 24 per person ($ 19.99 each, if you show your Player Club card). Lobsters are on the small side, but this is, after all, all you can eat, so who's complaining? Besides that, this is a typical casino buffet.

Jubitz
In Oregon, I 5 at exit 307 (don't miss the exit because you can't just roll over at the next exit (two floors and no ramp when you return to the freeway) - this is a poorly marked truck stop called Jubitz - follow the small signs the route marked “Jubitz.” I wanted to stay away from the truck stops, but this is the one that describes the mention that boasts live entertainment. This is a pleasant change from the traditional truck stop with all the services provided by Settings (diesel fuel, tires, showers, laundry and so on. d.).

Other places that I recommended, but did not try:
Agritourism
In Wendell, Idaho. The farm has parking for trucks (unconfirmed), large portions, friendly service ... and, of course, exceeds the usual rates for truck stops, if you know what I mean!
Big Texan
In Amarillo, Texas. This place is known for a 72 oz steak, which you get for free if you eat it in one hour. In addition, I heard that their “ordinary” steaks came from this world.

Rainbow Casino Steak House
In Wendover, Nevada. Reservations are recommended. There is a lot of parking for trucks and a free shuttle (although the casino is right across the street and safely gets to). I heard that their filter mignon and giant shrimp are better than a hit on the jackpot.
