Catfish harnesses are a great way to catch tons of fish with minimal effort or effort. You will see that it is sometimes called “juglining”, but it’s the same thing. This is mainly due to the fact that there are a lot of jars in the water, which have a straight line between them, and on this line are your hooks.
The first thing you need to do when you want to play is to make sure that it is legal. Previously, it was the usual way to catch fish on the main rivers of the country, but in recent years it has become illegal in some places. Others adhere to strict rules regarding buzzing. The reason is that juglines impede water and interfere with commercial fishermen and other traffic. For the most part, shooting is best in small tribes of large rivers or small lakes and ponds.
Here is the equipment you need to buzz:
- Pitchers. The best things for jugs are empty plastic gallon milk jugs. You can use almost anything, be it glass or plastic, if it has pens. Make sure you hold the caps, because you need your jugs to float. Some people use other things that are easy to see, and you can also buy ready-made jugs for shopping in stores.
- Lines. You must have one line for each bottle, and they must be at least 5 feet long. In general, more time is better, but it depends on the water that you buzz. If you have a fast stream, a strong wind, or other movement around, you may be limited in terms of how long your lines can be. But they must be at least 5 feet.
- Hook and sinker for each line. Almost everything will work for weight. It must be heavy enough to hold the jars in place, but not too heavy. A little trial and error will give you an idea that too much or too little. Circular hooks work great for shooting, although you can use anything.
Here is what you do:
Tie the lines with the handles of your jugs. You must have each line tied to two jugs, and each jug with two lines departs. You can experiment a bit with this, but the standard jugging setting is to have a number of pitchers, all connected to each other in a row.
Put the bait on each hook, then start putting the jugs in the water. Best of all, if you go there by boat to put the jugs in the water. You have to do it carefully, because if the cats soar around the bottom, they split when they see that you are walking along their feeder.
In the pond or lakes where you can be near the jars, you can sit on the shore and wait for a bite, but in general it is best to be there on the boat, waiting for the bite, especially if there is a current. You will see these jugs bounce, roll over, shake themselves and go crazy, and this is a real rush. When these calm waters come alive, shooting at pitchers, it means that you have bitten yourself. Hurry there, take your jug and all that you chew on your bait. Hope this is a giant cat!
