Bedford Park, Illinois, is a quaint village just over six miles from Cook County. Living space is relatively small with a population of about 600 people, and industrial structures are expanding both in the east and in the small west. Until the early 1900s, this area was a flat prairie, but everything changed in 1906, and the rest, as they say, are now history.
How did Bedford Park, IL get its start?
The processing company Corn Products moved into this area, breaking ground in 1906 for the construction of a wet milling plant. Corn products had a profound impact on the village, which was named after the president of ET Bedford. Soon, Scott turned to the construction of houses for the craftsmen of the factory, and housing began to appear by 1919. Local government was created in 1924 with the formation of the Bedford Park Beautification Club.
Volunteer police, fire service and water supply through the system of wells Maize products brought the village in a new time. Interestingly, the fire department continued to use the two-wheeled cart until 1951. The one-room schoolhouse was opened in 1925, and the Walker School opened in 1934 at its current location. In 1940, the village was registered, and the first mayor of Henry K. Val was elected.

Formed in 1939, the park served residents of Bedford Park and residents of Bridgeview Gardens in nearby Bridgeview. The district now has playgrounds, baseball fields, a youth pool, cycling and jogging tracks, and a Swanson center with fitness rooms and youth programs. The library area was formed in 1962, and the first library opened a year later in the former pump house. A new library was built in 1976 on land donated by Corn Products.
This village was home to large companies, including 3M, Cracker Jack, CSX and FedEx, and the Clearford Park Clearing Industrial Association played an important role in these and other commercial and industrial enterprises. Bedford Park Midway Hotel has a fitness center and a fitness center.
Today, both businesses and residents have many services at their disposal. In recent years, the residential area of the village has been expanded. This village is characterized by a strong focus on the past, looking to the future.
