The key to learning your cat, whose behavior is good and bad, is consistency. Whenever you see your cat doing something unwanted, you should immediately hold it. In the same way, when he performs the desired action that you are trying to promote, he should be praised and rewarded.
To stop unwanted behavior, the element of surprise is a powerful tool. Cats hate sudden loud noises, and the initial shock usually stops them on their way. The clapping of a loud or shaking metal tin filled with coins is the two favorite sound level meters used by owners to hit their cat.
