Part One - North of Camber and Rye

What to do and where to go Cumber and the Rye Bay area in Sussex and Kent. If you're looking for Chessington, Disney, or Lego Land's adventure world ... then relaxing anywhere along the Kent and Sussex coast between Dover and Brighton is certainly not for you.

If this is your first visit ... life in this part of the world, and in particular the triangle and the surrounding areas of Hastings (WEST), Tenterden (NORTH) and Hythe (EAST), are definitely in the slow lane, where most of it is to do, go back to the time when all you need is a bucket and a shovel, good boots, a sun, a picnic or all of the above!

If you stay in Camber or Paradise Bay and are looking for some suggestions for one day and something to do, then we offer several interesting suggestions that will help you and help you evaluate the area and this beautiful part of the country,

All suggestions on what to do will help you miss the time and be a great day. All distances mentioned are approximate from Camber to the place, and we strongly recommend (out of season) to travel any distance you check or by phone to see if the object is open.

North Camber and Rye

Small place. TN30 7NG. Built at the beginning of the 16th century, Smallhythe Place was acquired by renamed Victorian actress Ellen Terry in 1899. Her daughter Edith Craig founded the museum in 1929, which has an exciting personal and theatrical collection. Children: quizzes and trails for all ages. Open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm (Thur / Fri is closed) ... from here and just a few hundred yards further down the hill (same road) .. Winery Chapel down.

Chapel down winery. Small Hythe, Tenterden, Kent, TN30 7NG. Lots of free parking - Chapel Down Winery launches award-winning World Class awards, and sparkling wines from grapes grow outside their home in Little Hite near Tenterden. The winery also maintains partner vineyards in the south-east of England - buying grapes from local harvesters, and then bottling at their winery. The winery welcomes visitors throughout the year - mini tours are available, and there is a large store selling excellent English wines. The winery has now presented Harvest Tours 2012, and pre-orders are currently being held for these tours, which will take place on Friday 5th, Tuesday 9th and Friday 12th October 2012. Along with the Chapel Down Winery - The Swan English Restaurant, and now it is open and worth a visit ...

Tenterden - Kent & Sussex Steam Railway. TN30 6HE. The Kent & East Sussex Railway is one of the best examples of rural light railways - Kent & East Sussex Railway. All day jumping, travel trips allow unlimited travel through all 10 miles (16.8 km) of the railway. You can stop to explore at any station - for example, visit Bodiam Castle or inspect the locomotive in Rolwenden. Hampers available. Catering is also available in the rooms for the repair station in Tenterden. A playground for children is located next to the rooms for repairs and offers shaded picnic tables. Free parking is available in Tenterden (260 places) and in Nortiam. Visitors who would like to start their journey from Bodiam can park at the Castle of the National Trust car park for a small fee. National Trust members are free to park.

Tenterden It is also a great city to visit with lots of antique, individually owned boutiques and coffee / tea shops.

Big Dexter (The Gardens). TN31 6PH (next to the Toy Museum). The Great Dixter House & Gardens in Nortiam was built around 1450 and is the birthplace of the late Christopher Lloyd, the author of gardening. Snacks, hot and cold drinks and ice cream are available all day, sitting in the garden of the gift shop.

Bodiam Castle TN32 5UA. One of the most famous castles in the UK, Bodiam was built in 1385. Appearance is mostly complete, and the walls of the fortress rise sharply above the moat. Open from 10:30 to 5:00.

Sissinghurst Gardens TN17 2AB. The beautiful Sissinghurst garden was first laid in the 1930s. The gardens surround the remains of the Elizabethan mansion. There are objects for repair, including a cafe and a restaurant. Open from 10:30 to 17:00 (closed Wed / Thur).

Manor complex Pashley. TN5 7HE Pashley Manor Gardens. The winner of the English garden of the year. On the border with East Sussex and Kent and the winner of the Christie Award, The Garden Of The Year is one of the best gardens in England. Picnics can be taken on the field for cars and the adjacent field with a fantastic view of the front facade of the house and the surrounding hills. There are several tables and benches. (Not in the gardens). Times Plus get in 2 on 1, but need a membership card. Open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Mondays and public holidays. Opem from 11:00 to 17:00.

Scotty Castle and Gardens. TN3 8JN. One of the most romantic gardens in England, designed in a picturesque style around the ruins of a 14th-century castle, is located in a beautiful wooded estate. There are always a lot of things for the whole family. The house was opened in stages, and in 2011 the final phase of the opened premises was completed. Open from 11:00 to 4:00 and from 30:00 to 00:00.
