Resume and Cover Letters - Advice for a Verified Past -2

Admit it; you jumped from work to work or into industry to industry. Finally, you figure out a career that you think will keep you interested for a long time. So how can you get an employee to take you seriously?

1. Do not try to mask career changes. Sometimes, when people had several jobs or worked in several industries, they assumed that potential employers would be stunned. Instead of being frank, these job seekers may try to disguise their work history by writing a summary of the “skills.” The truth is that people with different backgrounds can bring great skills to a new industry or a new position. Take the time to think about what skills you learned in each of your past positions, and then think about how these skills can be useful for this employer.

2. Think like them, not you. If you were a mercenary, what skills would you look for in a job candidate? What qualities would be important? Do you have these skills? If so, how can you present them in an organized way?

3. Think about the skills you have gained in your life. Does any of these skills match the needs of the employer? Many of us tend to underestimate ourselves. But everyone can learn from their past. Even the one who spent time in prison has the skills: knowledge of the penis code, the ability to get along with others and how to stay calm under duress. Focus on what you have learned from your past.

4. Think about your work experience. Most likely, you have life skills that go beyond your work experience. Can any of them be useful in the position you want to get? You can spend some time thinking about volunteer work, family assignments, education, or organizational experiences. Think about what you have done, and then think about any skills or qualities that may be useful for your prospective employer.

Your resume is usually your first meeting with prospective employers. If you think you may need help, it’s worth hiring a professional writer or visiting a career counselor.
