Nature is at its best - Gavi's experience Rewound -2

The name sounded quite unusual, but the experience was truly extraordinary. Once it was pure ecstasy, which I doubted could be told in a few words. This place in Kerala, called Gavi, is a hit among tourists, mostly foreigners, who prefer a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. We left Trivandrum by car early in the morning. Having deviated from Adura, we walked the path concerning Pathanammitta until noon to Wandieperare. Here the road goes to the forest zone from Vandiperirär via the Connimare estate.

Question Mullapiariyar, the backbone of the maintenance between Kerala and Tamilnadu, was at the forefront when we got to the Vallakadavu checkpoint before entering the forest. A banner that screamed "welcome to the land of death" , send chills up our spikes. This was because the problem had political overtones. Fortunately, the entry point was not blocked, and we were given passes to move on. Problems and anxious views fade away in worthlessness, as the fascinating beauty of the forest unfolds on both sides of the road. We stopped in many places to enjoy the atmosphere that only dessert forests could give. Elephant dung could be seen in many places near streams along the route. After traveling twenty kilometers through the forest, we reached the Green mansion, the house where Kerala Forest Development Corporation is located. The lake in the foreground was untouched and attractive. Since we ordered a package consisting of food, accommodation and sightseeing with a guide, there was no problem in this regard.

Our stay was in tents in the middle of the forest. Eco-friendly tents were our homes during our stay. After a refreshing and sumptuous dinner, we carefully left. The red-hot meadow at the edge of the lake provided an ideal place to relax and enjoy a peaceful environment. As promised, our guide met us at three in the afternoon and took us to a waterfall on the other side of the lake in a boat. Hidden between rocks and vegetation, it really was a refreshing experience. Fortunately for us there were few visitors on this day due to the problem of Mullaperiyar. After a large bath in natural conditions, we returned the house. Then there was trekking in the hills on the opposite side of the lake. The view from above was stunning when we saw mountain goats, wild buffaloes and horn bills. The flight of the horn bill was a spectacle. We were surprised when our guide, pointing to a column of smoke, told us that this was Sannidkhanam, the home of Swami Eyappa. In these forests, many pilgrims go to Sabarimala. The light faded when the sun began a fierce descent over the hills. It was a glorious sight, so familiar, but still similar to different parts of the planet Earth. I felt humiliation and relief from pressure when we became one with nature.

Tiger observations are not common, although they coexist with other species in this natural refuge. Our guide told us about his experience of observing tigers a few years ago on this very spot. The big cat, unaware that she was being watched, stretched out in the sun for almost an hour before leaving. When we returned to the house, our movement was directed to keep mom. In the gorge on the side of the path lay a viper. We waited for him to slip into the underbrush. When we got to our house, it was very dark, but the lights around us helped us find our way. Returning to the tent, we freshened up and had dinner at the restaurant. Soon the electric fence around the tent came to life when the animals did not get to the area. From the nearby forest, one could hear several stimuli. Apparently, the elephants trumpet was heard, accompanied by the sound of breaking bamboo. Spending the night in the woods was a truly exciting experience, this too, when the moon was glorious.

The next day, there was another excitement when we went to the jeep raid in the direction of Patanammitta along a forest road. This is another route, albeit risky, but picturesque, which takes you to Gavi from Patanammitta. The KSRTC bus is located between Patanammitta and Gavi, covering about one hundred kilometers. This trip offers some amazing views and has attracted many tourists. Recently, Malayalam’s film, with its story woven around this journey, took place in packed houses through Kerala. This also contributed to Gavi thinking a lot about his destination. We were lucky to catch a glimpse of a male elephant, several antelopes and a lion tail macaque on the top of a tree while riding.

Our package was for twenty hours, and it was time to say goodbye to Gavi. At half past midday we packed up and went to Vandiperiar, heading back to Trivandrum. The scenes near the checkpoint in Vallakkawa were contrasted sharply with the experience we had before. The slogan, screaming supporters of political equipment, for some time blocked our path. When the road cleared and the car moved forward, we could not help asking. Will there be people without nature? & # 39; A confident nature will flourish without humanity. ,
