Top 10 performance bugs and how to fix them -2

Again and again, as a former professional dancer in New York, I witnessed attractive young girls who did not dress well in tons of makeup before performing. In my 10 years of dancing, I saw how, well, ugly, poor culinary skills can get! Makeup can help create the best possible version. As a makeup artist, I learned to emphasize our best aspects with makeup.

This is my list of top 10 performance-related bugs in a specific order.

1) ERROR: Lack of eyebrows! WHAT FOR? When there are no eyebrows, we lose our emotional expression.

USE IT: To create a natural look, then an eyebrow pencil uses pressed mineral eye shadow powder. Use a color that matches or is slightly darker than your own hair color. To emphasize and fix the eyes, use an angled eye liner brush to fill in the natural shape of the eyebrows.

2) ERROR: On the inside of the lower lash line using a pencil for black pencils. WHAT FOR? This is a great makeup method for fashion shows, print ads, TV and in person, but not for performing on stage. During the execution of the scene, the eyes look smaller.

FIX IT: WHITE Highlighter Pencil on the outer corner of the eyes and on the inner bottom line of the eyelashes will make the eyes look bigger and brighter.

3) ERROR: applying a black liner under the eye and into the far inner corner of the eye. WHAT FOR? It gives the eye a very round look, you want a more almond shape. Sometimes it may seem like “crossed eyes” with a dancer.

USE THIS: To achieve a more desirable shape, use a dark brown eyeshadow with a brush for eyeliner as a lining under the eye. Start under the student and clean it with the natural curve of the eye.
Do NOT join the top liner and bottom liner. Without connecting these lines, you will get the illusion that the white eyes are very large.

4) ERROR: the darkest contour of the eye shadow, which is too close to the nose and too high on the crease of the eye (up to the eyebrows). WHAT FOR? It removes all the emotions from the eyes. This gives the appearance of large black holes. For the same reason, “Smokey-eyed look” does NOT work on the scene.

FIX IT: Make sure that the dark color of the outline is stopped before it gets close to the eyebrow. Apply a shadow with a eyeshadow brush that is small and angular. When adding a darker contour to bend the focus area of the eye on the outer half of the eye and not to give a dark color too far to the nose.

5) ERROR: There were no grounds on the stage performances. WHAT FOR? Wearing makeup without a foundation will not get up when you sweat. It will look spotted and not fit well.

USE THIS: Creating a clean, matte makeup surface requires a foundation. When choosing a foundation, use a light, mineral-free / non-comedogenic, water-resistant foundation. This will keep your makeup smooth and clean throughout the day!

6) ERROR: Weave false eyelashes that are too big or too thick. WHAT FOR? As the lighting of the scene comes down from above, large eyelashes form a shadow under the eyes. This can make your eyes closed, sleepy or heavy.

USE THIS: If the eyelashes are half a minute or half, then they do not need to be cut so that they match the eye, otherwise cut them so that they fit together. Always trim the outer edge. False eyelashes, which are longer on the outer edge and become shorter when they go to the inner eye, are the best choice. Avoid excessive eyelashes and select those that concentrate on the outer third of the eye.

7) MISTAKE: the wrong choice of makeup color used to make up the scene. WHAT FOR? Just because we see the color of the makeup on TV, it does not mean that it will work on the stage. On TV, when makeup is done, the colors can match outfits, be more understated and more “fashionable” in style. Our main goal on the stage is to make sure that the facial expressions and functions can be seen, and the dancer looks strikingly under serious stage lighting.

FIX IT: Wear neutral tones to bring out the innate beauty on a dancer's face. There are also neutral pink tinted lipsticks that look great. Bright red is no better! If bright red glaring lipstick has an audience, it is distracted from execution, then it does not serve its purpose.

8) ERROR: Sharp line for blush or blush too. WHAT FOR? Too much blushing or a sharp line can make performers look harsh or old.

FIX THIS: Neutral pink tinted or pink / peach tinted colors. Another advantage - these colors will work on all skin tones - from the lightest to the darkest. To create a soft line, place the brush on the hair line and brush it forward, mix up the apples on the cheeks. It is important to prevent the blush from dropping below the lip line.

9) MISTAKE: Using too much gloss. WHAT FOR? When you use glitter on every part of your face, body and costume, it is very distracting to your audience and suggestions.

FIX THIS: select one piece that you will use gloss on. Use glitter in your hair or use a shimmering white to highlight your cheekbones, or try a shiny red lip. The important part is to choose ONE body part, not every part for your glitter fitty!

10) MISTAKE: Need more makeup. WHAT FOR? Because of the strength of the phase lights and the distance from the performer to the audience, facial features tend to lose their dimension. Facial functions "smoothed out" when you do not have enough makeup.

USE THIS: Apply makeup so that it is dark enough to see your functions without stress from the 8-10th row. Stage lighting makes it necessary to wear makeup if you have a natural look on stage. Again, because you saw the dancer look on TV, it does not mean that he will work on stage.
