My husband loves to play golf, and I myself am pretty decent in sports. Therefore, it was given that we will play several rounds in Orlando. We had the chance to try several golf courses first-hand and received a personal assessment of the large number and variety of golf courses in the Orlando area.
I had the opportunity to talk to Mike Jameson of Orlando Golf to get a better overview of the extensive golf facilities that the Orlando area has to offer.
1. Orlando is not only the world number 1. 1 destination for recreation, but also called "Ultimate Theme Park Golf". Please tell us more about it.
Isn't it interesting how sometimes the most obvious answer to a difficult question is sitting right in front of your eyes, but you need days, months, even years to see it?
Officials of the marketing co-op GolfOrlando realized that recently, when they finally nailed the perfect line of marketing tags to their 25-course organization.
For years, the group has struggled with various themes that could put Orlando apart from its competition in the golf wars. Then one day a member asked the question: “What does Orlando know?”
The obvious answer? Amusement parks. Orlando is the world's No. 1 1 vacation spot, and an incredible collection of theme parks plays a leading role.
It was at that moment that the ideal theme line was formed - “GolfOrlando - Golf Ultimate Theme Park”.
This is a wonderful fit, not only because of Orlando’s theme parks, but also because it reflects the incredible diversity of the landscape in Central Florida. Golf in Orlando provides its own kind of outdoor adventure.
2. Please tell us about the types of golf courses that are available in the Orlando area.
Looking for a taste of UK? What about Royal St. Cloud, where each hole takes you to the legendary courses of the British Isles and where did the British amateur juniors of 2004 and 2005 take place? Try a pair of very popular Ron Garl Scottish touches. Eagle Creek, near Orlando International Airport, offers open, rotating fairways, large, undulating greens and those dangerous, inexperienced bunkers that dot the landscape in Scotland. Eagle Creek, recently ranked number one among the top ten courses of the decade in Florida at Golf Travel & Leisure, is the first course at Par 73 in Orlando and is the first to use Mini Verde greens.
On the north side of Orlando is Tikakuansky golf club and a country club, which occupies the same high place as number 2. 14 in Florida according to one state publication. Its front side offers the true taste of Scotland, while back 9 takes on more of Caroline's feelings. Hole 2, a long water-controlled steam 4, was recently named the 2nd most difficult hole in Central Florida for publication. Timakuan is a local. favorite.
Arnold Palmer’s very similar routing awaits you on the south side of the city. Legends in Lake Ozyorsk opened in 1998 and feature the Scottish facade of nine (The Links) and a nine-story tree (The Pines). Distinctive features are the 610th yard of the 4th by Nexus 9 and the 432th courtyard of the 13th, which is called Oak-Oak.
Need a drama? How about the Diamond Players Club in Clermont, where the altitude changes are so impressive that the track is often referred to as the "Florida Mountain Course". You will have to wear it when working with Mystic Dunes & # 39; green complexes. They offer slopes that fall as much as 10 feet, and you can find an elephant's trunk escaping from several serious mounds. In addition, some of the fairways have bunkers for whiskey barrels as guidebooks. This course, designed by Gary Koch, personifies the word “adventure,” as does Highlands Reserve, like golf golf, with changes in height of 120 feet and dramatic landscapes. Further south on Highway 27 is Steve Smaiers Southern Dunes, another course that shows a change in height, unusual in Central Florida. Combined with the abundance and creativity of bunkering, it is easy to understand, while the Southern Dunes are among the 100 modern day Golfweek courses.
Excitement? The Falcon Resistance Rice Jones has a pair of thrillers, especially a hole in the cape, a pair of 4 13th. This allows you to bite off more than you can chew on, and although it is tempting to break a big triple shot toward the green, the money game is to safely land your ball in a thin fairway using a stronger angle and fairway,
If you are a traditionalist, the options are endless. Shingle Creek is Florida’s newest tradition, bordered by oak oaks and pines in the historic part of Tingle Creek. The location is another advantage, as it is located near the main tourist areas. Harmony is the design of Johnny Miller, which falls into this category. His & # 39; strength lies in green complexes, which have angular bunkering, creating many complex pin placement sites. Ridgewood Lakes provides a wonderful cruise through deciduous forests off Highway 27 and finishes the journey with an amazing finishing hole.
How about a walk in nature? Designed by Ron Garl, Stonegate Golf Club is designed to cover 3,300 acres of pristine wetlands, forests, and 100-year-old oak hammocks and emphasizes a short game. Mike Dusher’s North Shore looks like it should be located deep in the country, as it is conveniently located in a lush area, but it is conveniently located seven miles from Orlando International Airport. Diamondback, designed by Joe Lee, located in the city of Haines, was carved out of 240 acres of virgin forest and offers sharply rolled fairways bordering thick trees, untouched natural wetlands and well-located water resources.
If convenience is important, MetroWest may be the ideal choice, as it is located near Universal Studios and the International Drive tourist section. This is a masterpiece of Robert Trent Jones Jr. with wide fairways and complex approach shots. Not far from the international drive, next to Sea World is the Grande Pines, the recently renovated design of Smyers, which has a number of great risk / reward openings. The Celebration Golf Club, located near Walt Disney World, was designed by Father Robert Trent Jr., Sr. and son Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and focuses on the shots of the approximation.
Is fame important to you? Two ChampionGate courses are held annually in Office Depot Father / Son Classic, a favorite among dozens of PGA and Senior PGA Tour players. Orange County National has twice held the PGA Tour final qualifiers on its two tracks, Panther Lake and Crooked Cat, they offer a variety of tests that are good enough to challenge and determine the professional stars of tomorrow.
Some people like to walk in the door of the hotel directly to the first tee. Orlando offers several options for buffs, including Hawk & Landing. Attached to the impressive world center Marriott, Hawk & Landing recently completed a complete renovation by Robert Kupp. It has water in 15 of 18 holes and has its own version of Amen Corner - holes 12, 13 and 14.
This little taste gives you an idea of the diversity available through GolfOrlando, truly the Ultimate Theme Golf Park.
