Introduction to the Italian Lake District of Italy -2

The region of the Italian Lakes is located in the northern region of Italy, right under Switzerland. These lakes have been a popular holiday destination since Roman times. Because of the sights and beautiful landscapes, the area still attracts numerous visitors every year for the holidays of the Italian lakes. Starting from Milan, Italy, the lakes boast many attractions for tourists and local Italians. Many celebrities meet there every year!

Lake Como and Lake Garda are by far the liveliest lakes, and Lake Maggiore is nearing the end of the third (and Lake Lugano is in fourth place). Regardless of this fact, if you are a first time visitor, all these are lakes that you need to see. Some of the other small Italian lakes are worth checking out: Lake Iseo, Lake Orta, Lake Trasimeno, Lake Bracciano, Lake Bolsena and Lake Vico.

Traveling to the lakes area for your vacation is not difficult due to the availability of easy transportation from nearby airports. The most convenient airports to reach the Italian lakes are Milan Malpanesa, Milan Linate and Orio al Serio. You can also go to the Swiss airport in Zurich, Switzerland, and go south from there.

When you travel around the lakes, you will be offered a lot of food, wine, drinks, sights and items to buy. The cuisine in the lakes region is delicious, along with a wide range of affordable wines, as in the rest of Italy. Shopping, which ranges from bargains to fashion boutiques, is one of a kind. Try to find your way to the weekly street markets that appear through the area. Ideal for browsing and searching for gifts for friends and family at home, street markets are a favorite for budget travelers. You will also have the opportunity to practice your bargaining skills. Remember: never pay more than half of what their original selling price is!

If you are more interested in outdoor activities, many tourists come to swim and travel along breathtaking trails for their holidays in Italian lakes. In fact, hiking is one of the most popular activities that can be done around the Italian lakes due to the ability to view the magnificent glacial lakes (with Lake Como offering some of the best tourist places on Earth!) The lakes also have plenty of water activities, including boating, swimming, water skiing, water skiing, kite surfing and much more! The area also boasts museums, art and architecture, design centers and prehistoric relics that everyone should see on your trip.
