This is a time for a little rest from work and writing. No cell phones, computers, no deadlines. This year I went to one of my favorite places, the district of the Palace. This is a large peninsula on the eastern shore of Wisconsin, which flies into Lake Michigan. We all need to recharge our batteries from time to time, and I like to choose a place where nature regulates.

Rated by Money Magazine as “One of the Ten Best Places in North America”, World County, often referred to as “Cape Cod in the Midwest,” has more than 300 miles of solid coastline, five state parks and eleven lighthouses (more than in any other district of the United States), not to mention recognized performing arts, more than 80 galleries and museums, incredible unique restaurants and shops, and some of the most friendly people on earth. National networks are not even allowed north of Sturgeon Bay. Outdoor concerts, farmers' markets, fishing, boating, hiking, golf, etc. There is always something to do or nothing to do at all.

It offers breathtaking views above the water or overlooking any of the more than 30 islands dotted with coastline. Moving along the peninsula, you travel from one village to another, each of which is located along the water, many of which show their moorings and their love of water. The buildings date back to the early 1800s, and much of the historical charm is maintained in architecture. Not surprisingly, in the magazines "Nadia and travel and leisure" written many articles about this.

The scenery is nothing short of amazing. This is an ideal chain of small coastal villages without the influence of the corporate world. The air is crisp, even in summer, with little consumption for air conditioning most of the time. The traffic can be a bit hectic, as over 2 million visitors come here every year, and, like the holidays you spent 30 years ago, everything still has two lanes wide.

But do not let the charm of a small town fool you. If you are planning a trip there, you'd better advise to make a pre-order for at least 6 months, if you want to get the best accommodation. There are several large hotels and B & Bs, but there are no large hotel chains. My choice is to find a great house on the water for rent and use it as a home base during my stay there. Summer is certainly the busiest time, and the movement can often come to a standstill, especially in Sisterra Bay or Rybnyi Ruche, or if there is a local festival or fair ... there are a lot of them.

If you want to enjoy the area with fewer crowds on the streets and restaurants, you may want to consider going after Labor Day. And if you want to enjoy the fall foliage, I found that the second or third week in October is usually the peak color. Here are some photos from my last trip. This year I will try to take more pictures of small cities and local tastes.

So I will enjoy fried cottage cheese, cherry pie and fish. Afternoon sleep and picnics in the park. Time for homemade ice cream and open concerts. I take a temporary warp in the past to complete the future.
