I went to lunch at the Redwood Inn, which is located in Ledgeview in the far east of Green Bay. The restaurant is updated and impeccable. Redwood Inn is best known for its toads and chicken, but they also offer various options on their menu. The restaurant is very open and has large windows with pictures that surround it. As soon as you enter, there is a hostess counter with a cash register, and if night recorders are busy there. They give you a number, and the server will find you and take your order. When your food is ready, the server will tell you that your table is ready and show you where it is located. To the right of the building there is a very large full bar with an updated worktop. On the side there is also an assortment of cocktail tables. To the left of the bar is a dining area with a partial lower wall that separates the bar from the dining room. The most remarkable thing that Redwood Inn can boast of is the Packer decor. Tastefully decorated most memorable things Packer, which I saw in Green Bay and the surrounding area. Not only do they have glass boxes with enclosed Packer jerseys autographs, but there are authentic items and collectible photos that surround the interior of the restaurant. In the dining area, hanging high, is a fantastic picture of the old Packer football team in action. Above is the original metal target from the famous 1961 championship game against the New York giants.
I decided to order their Lake Perch, which includes homemade cream camouflage, two slices of rye bread and a choice of potatoes: baked or french fries. All tables feature one large plastic transparent bottle of homemade tartar sauce, ketchup, a large piece of all the oil on a plate, a scoop of sour cream in a glass plate, extra napkins and salt and pepper. As soon as you find yourself in the dining room, they will bring your food very quickly. A burger made from scratch is served in a medium sized bowl to share the style of the country. When they brought me a perch dinner, I was amazed at the abundance of food. At the bottom of the plate were two slices of rye bread and placed over the bread, there were three large butterfly perch fillets, and to the side was my baked potato. But instead of one potato, they serve you as a medium one. There is no hunger. Their camouflage was very tasty and fresh. They chop the cage in place, and the sauce is also homemade. The perch tasted delicious; very adorable. The fillet was large, lightly wrapped and fried to a light golden color. The fish fillet was thick and moist, not fat, and the aroma of their homemade breading had a light onion and salt aroma. Baked potatoes were served hot, chopped butter and had a very soft texture. If you have lunch at Redwood on Wednesday or Thursday, they’ll bring you a free dessert, one small cup of mint soft serve, which is served in a small expanded polystyrene cup to keep it cold.
The atmosphere at the Redwood Inn is warm and friendly with helpful and efficient staff. There are many regular visitors to the Redwood Inn and don’t be surprised if you happen to see the Packer trainer or the old Packer legend who, as you know, patronized the restaurant. Get ready if you plan to dine at the Redwood Inn at the weekend, because very often you have to wait 40 to 60 minutes.
