LOCATION AND RAMPS

The Nanticoq River is located in Delaware and Maryland and passes through several small towns to the Chesapeake Bay. There are two ramps that you can access from Delaware. Landing Phillips is the most popular. It has a large parking lot with room for about 30 boats and trailers. It has two ramps that can be reached by taking rt.13a to the city of Bethel, crossing the Befel bridges and making a hole at Bethel in Portsville. Take the second right after Portsville Pond and follow the signs for Phillips landing. Another ramp can be reached by turning off rt.13 and taking rt. # 20 west, down to Shipley Street in Seaford, and following the green signs until the start of the ramp. There are rooms for toilets and a room for 40 trailers. There are two ramps with deep water and good docks.

LOCATION AND LURIES

The best place to start your search depends on the time of year. In the spring from April to the end of May, launch at Phillips landing, and right to the right in the direction of Broad Creek. About 1/4 mile past the wooded pads on the left side, there is a series of catches and underwater boulders. The sun enters this area all day and heats the water a few degrees more than the rest of the area. Start working with all the visible structure, styling, etc. With a fast moving lure, such as 3/8 oz. Terminator Spinnerbait in a charrusey / white, with tandem blades.

If you do not get any suppliers in a short time, redo the same area with a crankshaft parallel to the pads in the woods. You should also have a spider cartridge rigged on a spinning rod, with a test line of 6-8 pounds. Brown / orange or watermelon is a good choice. If you can't find any bass in this area, then continue on to Broad Creek, right up to Bethel Hole. Work with the bridge and tree on the turn in front of the bay of Bethel, with the bait on a black / blue mist, jig and buoy. If these places cannot be produced, turn on the outboard and return to Phillips Landing.

Walk past the ramps and take a turn on the main channel to Woodland Ferry. On the deck of Woodland there will be several docks and peels that should work well with buzzbait and spinnerbait, then move closer and turn over the black / blue jig or Senko. After working these docks, go to the entrance to the stream, and work your mouth with spinnerbait and buzzbait, then work with the whole tree with the jig and Senko. Then go to the ferry crossing and throw the little worms and Senkos directly onto the sea wall, carefully avoiding the ferry and cable. Leaving this area, follow the river in the direction of Maryland to the next main stream to your right. There is a lot of forest that needs to be carefully worked out with spinners and buzzbaits, and then remake the same area with jig and Senko. Many times, looking for bass here, you will come across some decent sized stripers.

Best time

The best time to work in these areas is the first two hours of the incoming flow and the last two hours of the outgoing flow. Three days before the new moon in April is best, but in other cases it turns out with a little patience. There are a lot of two-pound bass in this area.

WHEN ALL HEAVENLY FAILURES

When everything else fails, run into Wide Scream at any level, and work with a hole in Bethel with pipe lures, and Senkos rushes straight to the shore, and then slowly draws them into the water. This is a spawning ground for bass and is only one of the few on the river, so be respectful and practice, catch and free.

SHOPS AND LICENSES

A & K gear has a lot of lures and baits, and they are open all year round. You don't need a fresh license in Delaware for fishing, but you need both freshwater and a sport license in Maryland. On weekends there will be a lot of boat, jet skis, etc., But in general, most people respect them. There is plenty of wildlife along the river to enjoy, so sometimes take the whole family. He will keep them busy all day.
