The opportunity to present you information about the nearest safari in Cape Town and spend the night talking to Mother Nature captured our imagination this month. The packaging in the true explorer style (light and effective) was just a small night bag, we headed east along the magnificent and majestic Hotthos Holland ridge to the hot semi-desert of our Little Karu.
Western Cape offers a range of private game reservations and an exclusive Wilderness experience to choose from, Colin & I chose two well-established sites to share with you this month, Aquile Private Game Reserve and Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve, an hour-long Cape Town.
The four-star Aquila Private Game Reserve offers game drives on a territory free from malaria, a large 5 game area, just 2 hours drive from Cape Town. Surrounded by the semi-desert stone landscape of Little Kara, the landscape is impressive.
Aquila Private Game Reserve actively supports the previously destroyed community from the nearby town of Touws River. Under the auspices of the team in Aquila, they employ over 120 people, sponsoring full-time teachers and a local cricket team among other generous sustainable development programs that are so important in our responsible touring gambit.
They have achieved significant success in eradicating exotic trees and invasive plant species from the area. This incoming program helps in conserving water in an area that receives only 400 milliliters of rain per year! Their bathrooms use natural biodegradable baths that support their environmental responsibilities. Very positive and commendable actions!
Our experience at Aquila Private Game Reserve left us with mixed feelings. After spending time in many other African safaris in various parts of southern Africa, we felt that Aquila was sold as what they call “Real Africa”, a statement on their website. The cheetah and the lions are in fences, and you can see them walking along the fence of their respective fences, the crocodiles are in a small water camp in the hut so that everyone can see, and the whole game is fed every evening, and not the very real Africa that we feel is genuine and that we could sell as “Real Africa”. However, the Aquila Private Game Reserve has the advantage that you can get really good, close the wildlife photos that you can appreciate with friends in your homeland when you share your African experience. You have the opportunity to see four of the Big 5! Even well-informed rangers very rarely see mountain leopards, one fifth of the Big 5.
Colin and I met with general manager Len and conservation manager Patrick. Two beautiful young gentlemen with passion, knowledge and commitment for both the environment and guests. Aquila is an individual product for daily visits, and we both felt that this was a very “work in progress”. Aquila can offer a great safari option in the future. Right now, however, we feel that it is expensive for a common entrance for overnight guests staying for a night or two.
Available rooms are standard and meals are provided on foot but are well presented. The overall service is good, and the game rangers are knowledgeable within their area of responsibility. It was a disappointment when the lower quality of a semi-sweet South African sparkling wine, marshmallow and bilton on an adventure adventure at sunset was offered. The opportunity to miss the passion of the heart and mind of twelve guests on our car .......
Aquila offers two adventurous and fun activities at the lodge, which is horse riding safaris and quad bike safaris. Both offer a unique experience. The great advantage of visiting this property is on their full day trip. For people living in Cape Town and the surrounding area, with a limited time spent in African wildlife, valuable photos and close encounters with animals abound. Common thoughts come for one day! In the future, their conference rooms, which will be developed over the next six months, will make the right choice of venue.
Hops, leap and leap led us north of L'Aquila through several more spectacular landscapes, climbing a undulating mountain pass and along some rough gravel roads in the southern part of Söderberg. Our chosen destination is four stars, 15,000 hectares Kagga Kamma Private Reserve. The final 16 km from the house showed a unique resemblance to the enchanting sandy rocks found in the Söderberg area. Hot (36 degrees Celsius), dry and almost lunar temper and feeling.
Kagga Kamma Private hunting reserve offers wildlife with a cultural twist. Cederberg’s total area has been renamed “Bushman Paintings”, and Kagga Kamma offers an informative cultural safari, guided by a very experienced and experienced field guide, Jacot, who is also the general manager. Yako is a great warrior who is fascinated by Mother Nature and has extensive knowledge of the Bushmen. The time spent in Sabi-sands in the inimitable Mala-Mala Nature Reserve, combined with the heritage of Namibia, made the time in his company absolutely irresistible! Kagga Kamma Private Game Reserve offers a unique, well-located mini-observatory with a 10-inch telescope. There are close views of our moon, some planets, constellations and other fascinating objects in distant space. Useful experience!
Kagga Kamma offers unique accommodation. Ten imitation sandstones, such as structures built on towering sandy rock formations, merge in their vicinity. Comfortable beds, fresh fresh, white linens and air conditioning are really welcome. Their version of "Outcrop" sleep is special! It just needs to be for you! Imagine, if you will, a natural rock outcrop, two shadows of trees and a vast expanse of endless vistas. Imagine the ingenuity of a person who adds everything that is needed in the way of luxurious amenities needed to entertain people from sunset to well after sunrise the next day. Before sunset, we boarded quad bikes and escorted three kilometers between the main camp and the exit. Our arrival is breathtaking. A truly baronial bedroom, equipped with a king-size bed, bedside tables, a living room and a coffee table, decorated with all kinds of culinary delights. The African sun, located directly in front of us, our host glasses, illuminates our paraffin lamps, and then disappears discretely. We are alone to communicate with mother nature!

In general, our experience in the private game reserve Kagga Kamma was a pleasant learning course specially designed for Outcrop. We would recommend Outcrop without hesitation, however, when they were compared with similar concentrated properties in the region, their rates in proportion to the total value of the rest of the property are high.
