Top 10 Things to Do in Lake Havasu, AZ -2

It amazes me how many people I met, living in Arizona, or the surrounding areas that had never been to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. In the deserts of Southern California and Arizona Arizona, numerous outdoor activities are offered, such as hiking, off-road driving and beautiful scenery. But, in my opinion, Lake Havasu City is one of the treasures of Arizona, America.

Located off I-40 on Hwy 93, about 2 hours south of Las Vegas Nevada, this desert playground is located. Lake Havasu was formed when the Parker Dam, located south of Lake Havasu City, was built in the 1930s, creating the lake now known as Lake Havasu. Robert McCullough, the godfather of Lake Havasu, bought a London bridge for $ 2.5 million and spent another $ 7 million to dismantle it and sent it from England. What used to be only a peninsula is now an island after a channel has been dug for a bridge. And yes, the song “The London Bridge Falls” is about London’s Lake Havasu Bridge.

The list below presents some of the biggest attractions that Lake Havasu offers, and only a few insiders are aware of this. So, to fully enjoy every minute of your stay, do yourself a favor and make sure that you plan some time to accommodate them all. Lake Havasu can be enjoyed all year round, but the best seasons are in the spring and summer months; especially if you plan to play in the water. Winter and autumn are ideal if you do not plan on swimming, boating and skiing.

So don't let the heat stop you from May to September. Just stock up on 150 SPF plus sunscreen and enjoy.

1. London Bridge. First remove the bridge. This is no problem. If you go to Lake Havasu and do not see the bridge, then you already have a heat stroke. An English village surrounds a bridge to give you a sense of London, with the exception of a surrounded desert. You can’t go wrong, this is pretty cool, but for some reason I don’t know, the English village does not fit into its crown, the London bridge. Some really cool shops and attractions are long gone, but still it is worth taking the time to grab an ice cream cone and some souvenirs. Do not forget to come back at night.

2. Spring break - kids in college age love this, and the locals hate it. In my opinion, Lake Havasu is the most secret secret of the West Coast when it comes to spring break. If you can rent it, try booking at the Nautical Inn on the island or at the London Bride Resort, located on the canal next to the London Bridge. Not to mention the fact that here is the hottest nightclub of Lake Havasu, Kokomo.

3. Water sports are Havasu bread and butter. Swimming, boating and water skiing is what Lake Havasu is. You should have no problem finding boats on the London Bridge. If you are traveling in a group, consider renting a houseboat during the day. Be sure to check the sand bars located north of the city. Just ask the locals, they will point you in the right direction. Check out the swimming holes in the area. Rotary Park, located at the end of Smoketree Ave, and The State Beach, located on the island, are great places for children and families. There are plenty of swimming holes on the island if you like privacy, but make sure you wear shoes. There are no plush sandy beaches in Lake Havasu, such as southern California, and the rocks will break the legs.

4. Fisheries. If you are a fisherman, then you will have an explosion in Lake Havasu. Stripper bass, catfish and blue gill population inhabit the region, just to name a few. Lake Havasu is known for its countless coves and bays that simply beg to be caught. You also do not need to catch a boat. Therefore, if you just want to raise the chair and relax, there are many fishing holes on the island. Do not forget to buy a license.

5. Island at night. Now this is what everything is about. Most of the houses of Lake Havasu can see the lake because of its location. So when you go down to the lake, you can see the whole city. And at night it is completely beautiful. Clear nights give way to heaven — you get a clear look at the stars in all their glory. Be sure to go to the very end of the island near the place of the Sixth. Just follow the McCullough Boulevard above the bridge until you reach the end and pull out anywhere to find a good place. But be careful, there are many dangerous ravines, and if you do not pay attention, it can become ugly. You will see what I am talking about when you are there. You can hear wild donkeys for several nights on a lake in California or on boats where they live. I can not even say how much I spent there several nights, throwing a few cold throats, and just took it all.

6. Copper Canyon - Havasu residents traveling by boat always knew about this hot spot, but MTV took this small bay to Hollywood. Made a famous visit to MTV in 1994 with a spring break, the Copper Canyon must now see if you have a boat and like parties and jumping from the rocks. During spring break, packed boats make a floating walkway. This also applies to Labor Day, July 4 and Memorial holidays. If a lot of people are not your thing, you may want to experience the Copper Canyon at other times of the year.

7. Boat excursions. If you just want to relax and chat for a few hours, and take all the sites, then perhaps a boat trip will interest you. The storytellers give you a turn-based gaming experience, which is truly secondary. Browse the wildlife, enjoy dinner or relax; Your choice.

8. Bison Blvd - I'm going to upset my neighbors, but looking out of the desert from Bison Bay through Kiowa is too good not to tell you about it. The sidewalk takes you so far, although the car will do the trick if you are driving very slowly; we recommend using only truck if possible. Bison is located at the foot of the mountains behind Lake Havasu. Look at the city from the other side, and, like on the island, there are amazing views of space. During the day, the desert is a paradise for neophytes off the road; Here the desert really opens.

9. Rocks - I like to jump from the rocks, then this place is for you. Located north of Lake Havasu City from I-93 in the desert hills, the cliffs ranged from 15-150 feet in height. This is not a park, and parking is limited if you do not enter this area using an SUV or boat. The water is deep enough, but you should take extra care if you plan to jump from big boys. Again, just ask minor locales for exact instructions.

10. Off Road - the desert is wide open north, south and west for Lake Havasu. In this area you will find numerous dune buggies. But, as I said, be prepared with water, a GPS device, a cell phone, and a spare tire. Take the dune buggy and walk along the open desert paths. Just be careful, because if you run into trouble during the summer months, the heat of Arizona is not very forgiving.
