After so many cruises on the Silversea cruises, I struggled to say what to say about our 14-night transatlantic sailing, which has not yet been said. What can we say about Silversea, about which we have not yet spoken? But cruise reviews are snapshots. A cruise line or a ship can be beautiful for one year, and not so great next. When the ships get older, the crew members come and go, and the dynamics can change. When we arrived at the pier in Bridgetown, Barbados, on board the Silver Spirit, it really feels like we are returning home. We see crew members that we remember from past cruises over the years, and many remember our names. Even some of the other guests look familiar, and we know that we set sail with them for Silversea. So we weren't too surprised when Roland, our superb butler at Silver Shadow last year in China, greeted us when we arrived at our beautiful Silver Suite (1106) this year.
Landing is always smooth, like glass on Silversea. Why not every cruise line welcomes you aboard with a glass of champagne? I don't know, do you? Anyone? Well? Just know what Silversea does and always has. Five minutes after we boarded, we were escorted to our Silver Suite. The arrival of the "house" could not be easier.
SHIP
Silver Spirit is the newest and largest ship in Silversa Park, which entered service in 2010. At first we wondered whether Silversea could provide the same level of service on a ship with 540 guests. Not to worry, Silversea provides excellent service regardless of the ship. The ship is masterfully designed not to "feel" more than their other, smaller ships. The public areas are spacious and comfortable. The interior decor of the ship reflects the art deco design and features more works of art than other Silversea ships. The Silver Spirit is exquisite without being ostentatious.
ACCOMMODATION
Silversea has always had a reputation for spacious and luxurious rooms. Even the most modest numbers on Silversea deserve to be mentioned as “apartments”. Nevertheless, the Silver Suite at Silver Spirit raises the bar for great design and comfort. Despite the fact that not the largest apartment on the Silver Spirit, on an area of 742 square meters. Feet, Silver Suites are more than twice the size of standard veranda suites.
The 26 Silver Suites at Silver Spirit dominate decks 10 and 11 ahead and give residents the feeling that they are at the level of a luxury hotel concierge. A mini fridge / bar / TV cabinet is located on the outer wall of the living room with two large sliding glass doors on both sides. An advanced espresso machine and inventory takes up most of the desktop space on this device. Not being an espresso drinker, I soon discovered that the machine and the tray with espresso cups fit perfectly into the two shelves of the tabletop unit. More space for my electronic equipment!
Opposite the dining table there is a large sofa bed (which also includes an extra bed), two chairs and a glass coffee table. The small end table contains a high-performance Bang & Olufsen CD / stereo CD player. Beautiful fresh flower decoration decorated our coffee table.
Two large sliding wooden doors can be closed to completely isolate the master bedroom from any activity in the living room. This is very convenient for an early morning when I want to work on a computer, have coffee and watch Fox News while Ricky is sleeping. I say "master" bedroom, since the living room can be turned into a bedroom through a sofa bed. The bedroom is spacious, elegant and very well laid out. A comfortable king-size bed is surrounded by two end tables with lamps. The famous table for makeup / vanity with a large mirror is located next to the bed and outside the zone of movement. Opposite the bed is another flat-screen TV and a memory unit with several shelves hidden behind the doors.
Storage is strong Silver Suite clothing: a huge wardrobe is nothing short of amazing and even envious. You never have to worry about the lack of storage space in the Silver Suite. There are shelves, drawers and a lot of hanging space everywhere. The digital safe is inside the shelf, which was the perfect place for all of my cameras and video equipment, and I have a lot of them.
Everything about bathroom design is perfect. We may not notice the clumsy work of the vessels and just be pleased with the fact that there are two of them, not to mention the third in the room with the powder! The large shower enclosure, lined with rich Italian marble, is spacious and equipped with a hand sprayer (my favorite), as well as a rain head (favorite Ricky) installed in the ceiling. There is even a place in the shower! A full range of jacuzzis can be used for a relaxing bubble bath, and this was the case. We had a choice of Ferragamo, Neutrogena or Bvlgari amenities.
A separate “powder room” with toilet and sink can be obtained from the bathroom and hallway. Since the powder room is accessible from the hallway, it can be accessed by guests who are visiting your room, or others sharing a folding sofa bed, without inviting your own space in the bedroom.
From the living room there are two large sliding glass doors leading to a very spacious and well-furnished 118-meter-high veranda. On our veranda, a reclining chaise longue, three wicker chairs, a large wicker ottoman and a small glass top table, ideal for al fresco breakfast.
After 14 days and nights in Silver Suite, I must say that it is easy to rate 5 out of 5 in my rating table for comfort and design. He has more options for this than any other suite that we enjoyed. In fact, the Silver Suite is so comfortable and spacious that it really looks like a home.
CANTEEN
Ricky and I are what you can call “seasoned” cruisers. In the end, this is our business We no longer feel that we need to have everything in sight when we are on a cruise. In fact, we are trying to maintain a fairly ordinary routine, unlike the one we have at home. There are nights where people don’t even go out for dinner, preferring to stay in our suite and order a light service. Fortunately, this is possible on Silversea. I can call Roland, our butler, at 7:00 pm or so, and order a chicken Caesar salad (one of my favorite dishes) and a bowl of soup, and Ricky can get an order of Asian spring rolls and salad, 39; I know it sounds boring, but this is what we like and Silversea makes it possible.
Our breakfast usually consists of Roland, who brings me hot water for my coffee, and Ricky gets extra sleep instead of food. While most guests enjoy the all-wonderful La Terrazza buffet breakfast, we are in our suite, in our pajamas. In the days of the port, as we get up early for the excursion, we will go to La Terrazza and cook eggs on request, English bacon and Ricky pancakes. She also loves fresh fruit, and there are a lot of them in La Terrazza. I have to rush past the mountains of bread and pastry to appease the low-carb master I can serve. We always have breakfast in the restaurant on the day of disembarkation. This is our tradition, and we are not going to change it.
For lunch we usually go to La Terrazzu, and Ricky often enjoys nothing more than a great choice of salads. As a rule, I spend some time in meat processing plants with a special attention to the eastern dish of the day. Of course, they have everything that anyone can wish for at their beautiful buffet: a cutting station that changes its new roast meat every day; fresh, ready-to-eat pasta station; and yes, mountain bread ... my wicked temperament.
A RESTAURANT
The restaurant is a traditional resting place of the “cruise ship” on Silversea ships. Hotel La Terrazza offers a selection of the best Italian dishes. During the day, La Terrazza is a restaurant for breakfast and lunch in the restaurant. RESTAURANT SEISHIN
Seishin restaurant takes its name from the Japanese word for "spirit." This cozy restaurant onboard Silver Spirit is located on December 4, 4 from Le Champagne and next to the restaurant. Seishin specializes in Asian fusion cuisines, including regional dishes from Japan, as well as from China, Thailand, Vietnam and India. The central element in Seyshin is an open sushi preparation station, where visitors can watch their masterful dishes created by sushi chefs. Seishin starts lunch every night at 7:30 pm and offers a choice of three sets of menus.
Seishin Teaser 1 is a tasting menu with 4 dishes for seafood lovers. Teaser 2 is designed for those who prefer meat (poultry and beef) over fish. There is also an 8-course tasting menu that combines a selection of seafood and meat. All Seishin menus start with Sushi Sushi Wipes. However, we were able to make a special request instead of Sushi platter (Spicy Tuna Roll for me and California Roll for Rickee). In our sailing, an amount of $ 20 was reserved for teaser 1 or teaser 2 and a fee of $ 30 for a 8-course menu.
During the days at sea, Seishin offers free sushi and sashimi bar for lunch. The dress code for dinner reflects the ship's day dress code, but guests can dress informally and have dinner here on the official night.
STARS SUPPER CLUB
We had our first lunch at STARS in 2010 during our South American game of Silver Spirit. Despite the fact that I am still embarrassed about the culinary point of view of STARS, I am still impressed with what it delivers. STARS is one of the most unique restaurants that you will find on any cruise ship or on land.
