I remember how I went to my aunt's house. I loved her house. It always gave me elegance. She had this gorgeous dark furniture inlaid with wood. Her curtains were elegant, carved and richly decorated. In each room of her house she had the most beautiful carpets matching the decor of each room.

The 8 by 10 area rug in her living room was prickly, but all were brightly colored. I lay down on my stomach and traced the drawings of the carpet with my fingers. Everywhere in her house was something special and unique.

One of the last days I had to spend time with her, she took me to the bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed. I was very surprised when she handed me a large long bag wrapped in parchment. Looking down, I realized what was missing. She gave me my favorite carpet. It was a soft, woolen, cream and dark brown woven rug that lay in front of her bed. Now she decorates my bedroom, just like she does.

It’s ridiculous to think that I grew up with women who understood the value of high-quality carpets and how they could be used to improve the beauty of the house. My grandmother, unlike my aunt, was not rich and didn’t have much, but she did have some beautiful Persian carpets in her living room that she put on the room and knew how to take care of them, something she warned us about.

Ironically, taking care of such beautiful carpets is really not that difficult, and, first of all, such a net investment is the best idea. Now it has become fashionable to place apartments and houses without shoes. This is really not a bad idea, as it keeps all sorts of dust and dirt from your home. Think about the fact that you spend time on double and triple cleaning, when they just as easily could be rid of pollution in the first place.

However, dirt occurs, and it is important that it be immediately. The longer something comes, the more likely it is that the spots will be permanent. Be careful to make sure you know the material from which your carpet is made. Cleaning a wool rug, for example, would not be the same as cleaning made from silk. It is very reasonable to vacuum these mats regularly.

Of course, you will periodically vacuum your home, but good floor mats should be turned over and vacuumed on both sides with an interval of six months. The reason that your carpet does not contain dust is that accumulated dust can cause a spill or other accident instantly. Secondly, the steam engines we use on carpets should definitely not be used on carpets, and the detergent used in these machines is too smart to use because they are too harsh for most materials for the carpet.

While different materials require different care, there are some basic tips for eliminating spills and accidents. The first one never rubs. One of the most stains is the best excess fluid with a clean cloth. As soon as all the excess is raised, depending on the nature of the stain, a small club soda will help. Again, stain, do not rub.

There are professional cleaning products that will also help. Make sure you choose your carpet. Vinegar, by the way, keeps well and tends to keep colors from running. It also removes remnants of other things, so don’t be surprised if the area is cleaner than before. If this happens, do not worry. You can clean the entire wool mat with a little vinegar and water.

Square carpets come in different sizes, colors and styles. Fine Persian rugs, like my aunt and grandmother, are available, but they are not the only choice. Many modern options should now be and can improve any decor. A good 8-by-10 mat can immediately add flair and style to any home and give it instant makeup. If you take care of it, rinse it regularly and turn it every six to eight months, you can actually give it to one of your relatives one day.
