Is the gasifier a true alternative power source? -2

A mechanized device, called a gasifier, is used to heat wood chips or other organic matter and release flammable material inside. When released, these gases can be burned for heating or ignition in an internal combustion engine to produce energy. The main structure of the gasifier can be a canister, perhaps the size of an oil drum, which should be well insulated to keep heat.

A small layer of combustible fuel is retained inside the container inside the drum. It has access to outside air, allowing a small percentage to burn, but under controlled conditions, and start gas production.

This makes the whole process self-sufficient.

A small, controlled fire is required, in part because you do not want to simply ignite the entire burning volume, and a pocket fire with limited oxygen is effective. This heat is used to dry and heat the fuel pool, so that when it gets into the fire grate, it will read the burn. Ideally, the fire should be about 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. At the top of the cylinder there is a pipe that avoids emissions of combustion gases. The gases are then cooled and filtered, cleaning causes less damage to the engine, and denser gas has more power.

Some of the main advantages of a gasifier can be made small enough to be autonomous and portable on a trailer or trolley. The approximate size of the oil cylinder can be used to start a four-cylinder engine, but if you burn what is basically waste product, wood chips or dust, the gas obtained from this is as good as gas from expensive fuel.

Any combination of shredded wood and / or branches, rice or corn husks, shells, pits, animal droppings, in truth, can be used with any spent natural material. Even fast-growing willow can be planted as fuel.

The use of commercial agricultural waste as fuel will not only save money, but also monumental landfill volumes. The remainder of the gasifier, or coal, is an excellent climate conditioner, which makes it a very environmentally friendly alternative.

My interest is more connected with the use of a gasifier to reduce the costs of maintaining a house and / or housing stock.

The end result of household gasification is clean burning of fuels with little pollution. An additional advantage.

Many claim that 1 gallon of gasoline is equivalent to 20 pounds of dry shredded wood. A gasifier of a suitable size could provide all the gas for a particular engine; the larger the gasifier, the larger the engine. The gasifier does not necessarily require external energy, nevertheless it will help to start the car, someone will still have to pump up the car. With an internal combustion engine, induction will pull air through the heart, creating a self-sustaining sequence.
