ECDL Core is the most common ECDL certificate. It is aimed at anyone who would like to prove their basic computer skills.
The main certificate indicates that you are
- own internationally used applications
- can effectively use a computer
- can keep up with further developments in the field of information technology without any difficulties
- and you have the necessary foundations for further IT education.
Extended enterprises ECDL of four modules and are based on core modules of the same name. An individual certificate can be purchased for each of these modules. For example, Excel experts can get ICDL Advanced in spreadsheets. After completing at least three ICDL Advanced modules of your choice, you are entitled to call yourself an expert in Office applications. You will receive an ICDL Expert certificate confirming your extensive and professional skills.

Unlike the “real” certification, the diagnostic test contains about twice as many questions (60-80), no time limit has been set, and after the completion of a detailed analysis of all the answers received.
Upon completion of this, one of them significantly increases the likelihood of passing the real exam, if it did not go well in the diagnostic test. If so, then using the analysis at the end of the diagnostic test, you must be able to determine in which areas it should go through some training.
In order to have realistic certification exam experience, it is recommended to apply the same rules to a diagnostic testing session. These:
- No books or documents are allowed during the exam.
- Internet use is prohibited.
- However, the use of built-in office functions is allowed.
The average candidate takes about 60-80 minutes to complete the test. Try to adhere to these time limits to see if you are answering questions quickly enough. However, certification exams have a time limit of 30-45 minutes, but this should be feasible if you were able to answer all questions in advance in a diagnostic test.
Anyone who is not yet sure that he wants to undergo a diagnostic test can also try the free ECDL demo test first. The demo test, however, contains only five questions, but gives a rough idea of what the diagnostic and certification test looks like.
