Hotels Vs Short Term Rentals -2

As the number of short-term rental rates increases in large cities, a new set of conversations about the future of the hospitality industry is taking place. Many people argue that short-term rentals are the future, but many of these people forget about the benefits that have made hotels so popular in the first place. There are several key areas where rents surpass, but their drawbacks are significant enough to limit their long-term potential.

The main advantage of a short-term rental is that many of them are accessible from the beaten track. Individuals offer rooms and apartments next door that are not open to hotels. This allows visitors to better see the true culture of the city. The disadvantage of this is that most of the amenities needed by tourists, including car rental agencies, restaurants and convention centers, are located in areas unsuitable for short-term rentals. These include business areas and hospitality areas. Living quarters may not be suitable for visitors without vehicles or those that are not used in the area. They can also be located far from the sights.

Another advantage of the property leased by the owner is that it is easier to get to know the locals. Some hosts can show their favorite places and tell guests about the best things you can see and do in the new city. Unfortunately, most hosts also have jobs and live outside of renting their homes for visitors. In some cases, the host will be available to flip the key and a bit more. Larger resorts and hotels offer concierge services, which can be much more conducive to exploring the city. These services are usually well connected and available at any time. If local experience is an important part of visiting the city, guests must check with their host to make sure that he or she is available.

Many hosts are clean, friendly and hospitable, but there is no guarantee of good customer service. While most hotels invest heavily in hospitality and offer quality service, the same cannot be said for owner-rented properties. Amenities such as coffee pots, luggage racks, toiletries, televisions and private showers are often unavailable. If full service is required, guests are better off checking out the bed and breakfast or local hotel.

Despite the fact that the hospitality market has its own rental property, the national conversation about their destructive potential is inflated. Hotels are likely to remain standard for many years due to their convenience, reliability and commitment to hospitality.
